Olympics Has Set New Technologies Standards

The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, said that the Beijing Winter Olympics has set new technologies standards by achieving a high level of digitalization while allowing more people to experience the culture and excitement of the Olympics.

Bach explained: “Beijing is the first dual Olympic city and has achieved its vision of bringing 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports”. Meanwhile, the Alibaba Cloud ME technology made it possible for Alibaba’s CEO, Mr. Zhang Yong, who was located in Shanghai, to appear next to Bach and deliver New Year’s wishes to the journalists in Beijing.

Thomas Bach noted that global audiences can experience the Olympics as a magical event thanks to the support of Alibaba. He mentioned that Chinese companies, represented by digital technology companies are playing an important role into the digital transformation field, making this event the entrance to the digital age. In Bach’s opinion, Beijing Winter Olympics has set new technologies standards thanks to Alibaba’s cloud technology who “has left a whole new set of standards for the Olympics and continues to push it to new heights.”

In addition, Zhang noted the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics has become the first Games in history to fully adopt and integrate cloud technology. As such, all the Chinese tech giants also have tech-backed the 2022 Winter Olympics. From training preparation to venue construction, technologies in clean energy, artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G have been widely adopted.
